The Piedmont Area High Performance Manufacturing Association (HPMA) cordially invites you to our next HPMA dinner event on Tuesday, January 19 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Davidson County Community College in the Mary E. Rittling Conference Center.
Learning to See: Value Stream Mapping
I need your help again!! I believe we are convinced that Lean Manufacturing can help our business. But how do I start? My Sensei says I need to LEARN TO SEE! What in the world is he talking about? Well, tonight I will show you a method of mapping your operations, recognize the waste and start planning improvements. I need your help by bringing examples of your operations that we can help map and improve. We will learn the philosophies of Value Stream Mapping and the important steps to SEE waste and create a plan to eliminate it!
The exercise is in two parts. Tonight, we will learn basic Value Stream Mapping. Once we have practiced the Current State VSM technique, we will ask each table to use a single example to draw a new VSM. Second, we will learn about Lean techniques that could be used to improve our processes, as well as Pull Systems.
So bring a description of your operations and a group of your co-workers to “Learn to See” new ways you can improve your operations using Value Stream Mapping.
